If you have contents of over £100,000 and/or your property has a rebuild of over £500,000 then this type of policy may be more suited to your needs.
**This is not an exhaustive list
The contents of your home are more than just that, they can mean the world to you and even more so when you no longer have them due to a Fire, Flood or Theft.
We are here to help you protect them correctly.
Firstly, we would recommend a walk-through inventory of your contents, you may be surprised how much you have accumulated over the years and that you may have forgotten about, like the items hidden away in drawers, in your garage, shed - even your loft space!
Value your contents as if you were going to the shops to purchase as new today. Contents are things like clothing, curtains, carpets, soft furnishings, electricals and collections, such as wines, anything that you can take with you if you were to move home.
The value of designer items and precious metals can increase over time quicker than you’d expect. It’s so easy to lose touch with the number of valuable pieces you have around your home, or how much individual items are worth.
Please get in touch if you require further advice with this.
High Value items such as jewellery, watches, art, wine or whisky, it is recommended getting these valued at regular intervals, for instance between once a year and every three years, depending on the value of and the market effect on these items. If these are over the insurers single article limit these would be specified on the schedule separately.
We can provide a printed/emailed inventory to assist when doing this, just ask. If you would like a professional valuation then we can help you with this also.
With a High Net Worth Policy if you temporarily take contents somewhere else in the world, they’ll be covered wherever you are, along with any possessions you pick up along the way.
Firstly, this is not the market value of your home, the rebuild figure of your home could be a lot lower than the market value or it could even be higher. The value of your home depends on the housing market, which can fluctuate up and down and also on what type of materials have been used to build the property and whether these are in short supply or high demand.
The rebuild costs of your home will also include boundary walls, gates, fences, outbuildings, garden ornaments, swimming pools, tennis courts or car parking, professional fees such as Architects surveyors and engineers along with demolition and debris removal.
To assess your rebuild costs it is important to get a professional rebuild assessment, this would be provided by a professional surveyor, we can help you with this.
If you have altered or extended your home this will affect the rebuild cost therefore it is always advisable to seek professional help once this is completed for an up to date rebuild cost assessment so that the new figure can be supplied to your insurance and you don’t find that you are underinsured.
If you’d like to have any of your contents or possessions valued, or obtain an accurate rebuilding cost for your home, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
